Shreveport, Louisiana----Baseball continued their run in the Red River Athletic Conference tournament on Friday evening, May 5, 2017, on the campus of LSU-Shreveport against the #1 seed LSU-Alexandria in game three of tournament play.

Bulldogs 12, Pilots 9

JCC starter, Alejandro Guerrero (JR/San Leandro, CA) (7-2) | LSUS starter, Alex Naiser (7-1)

On Saturday afternoon at Pilots Field in Shreveport, Louisiana, the Bulldogs looked to advance to the RRAC Championship game on Sunday, May 7, 2017, against the Pilots of LSU-Shreveport.

Early on, JCC would jump out to a 4-0 lead after one inning of play, as LSUS would go three up, three down in the bottom half with hits by DeAndre McGuire (SR/Houston, TX) (2-for-6), Ryan Emerald (SR/Jamestown, CA) (3-for-4) and Koby Greene (SR/Bullard, TX) (3-for-4). Emerald and Carlos Andrade (SR/Pasadena, TX) (1-for-3) would lead off the 2nd, with a single and double, adding to their lead on an RBI single by Santos Abreu (JR/Brooklyn, NY) (1-for-5), as Alejandro Guerrero would retire the side.  JCC would take a 6-0 lead into the 4th before the Pilots would get on the board, crossing three runs on three hits, to trim the Bulldog lead, 6-3.

In the 5th, JCC would see a perfect execution of a sacrifice squeeze by Anthony Ortiz (SO/Bronx, NY) (1-for-3) that would score Spencer Thomas (JR/Oakdale, CA) (2-for-4), to give JCC a 7-3 edge over the Pilots, before erupting with five runs in the top half of the 6th inning, going ahead 12-3. However, the Pilots would not go away, scoring three runs in the bottom half of the inning, threatening with more, but would strand three as Tyler Arnsberg (JR/Merced, CA) would work out of the jam out of the bullpen for JCC.

The Bulldogs would have a 12-6 lead headed into the final inning of play, as LSUS would make things interesting with the first three batters reaching base and crossing a run. After LSUS would score two more narrowing the lead, 12-9, Koby Greene would extend out down the right field line to haul in the final out for JCC, as the Bulldogs would be championship bound for the first time in program history.
