Shreveport, Louisiana----After the Pilots of LSU-Shreveport would force a game deciding championship game on Sunday the Bulldogs would play for the winner take all RRAC baseball title on Monday, May 8, 2017 for the first time in their 19 year run as a member of the Red River Athletic Conference.

Bulldogs 13, Pilots 15

JCC starter, Joseph Lyall (JR/Richmond, TX) (10-4-1) | LSUS starter, Renny Tolentino (5-1-3)

In the 1st, the Pilots would come ready to play taking advantage of JCC mistakes to take an early 0-2 lead, but the Cinderella story of the 2017 RRAC Tournament would respond, jumping out to a 12-4 lead after an 8 run 4th inning with RBIs from Carlos Andrade (SR/Pasadena, TX) (2-for-6), CJ Tyler (FR/Van Alstyne, TX) (1-for-4), Koby Greene (SR/Bullard, TX) (2-for-4), Anthony Ortiz (SO/Bronx, NY) (2-for-5) and DeAndre McGuire (SR/Houston, TX) (0-for-3).

However, LSUS would not go away, chipping away to cut the deficit down 12-7 after six innings of play. Bulldog Joseph Lyall would make his second start of the tournament for JCC on short days rest to keep the Bulldogs in the game, pitching into the 5th inning.

In the 7th, the Bulldogs would add to their lead on Santos Abreu (JR/Brooklyn, NY) (2-for-4) single that would score Ryan Emerald (SR/Jamestown, CA) (2-for-5) to give the Bulldogs a 13-7 lead over the Pilots into the bottom half of the 7th inning.

Things would begin to unravel for JCC as the Pilots would trim the deficit even further adding two more in the 7th before miraculously taking the lead in the 8th, with the tying and go ahead runs scoring with 2 outs on the board. In the 9th, the Bulldogs would see a base runner but no more as their historic run in the tournament would come to an end.
